These works are investigations in two trajectories: finding a connection to my heritage and expressing my feelings about home. The smokestacks represent the industry where my paternal ancestors come from, a town renowned for silk weaving. The larger one has a faintly drawn rendering of one of the oldest oak trees in England, which happens to be just outside the town. The silver and graphite pigments represent the industry and wealth associated with the factories. The smaller works are much more about process and exploring a way of expressing an emotion that has no words, about what home feels. These are meant to be held snugly in the hand, close to the heart.
