I have owned Kate Millett's Sexual Politics (1970) since I was in university. A book of literary criticism, she analyses men's language around women and sex. One chapter is devoted to Henry Miller who writes about women as if they are conquests rather than sentient beings. Millett's book is on top, Miller's below (actually twice--the intact book and each page of another edition cut into strip and blackened with charcoal.
